The Midlife Protein Calculator was created to give women 40+ a clear, realistic way to understand their protein needs in perimenopause and menopause.

Hi, I’m Gita— nutrition coach, fasting therapist, and midlife woman who has been through the whole perimenopause–menopause ride myself.
For more than 15 years I’ve been helping women 40+ with hormones, digestion, weight, and energy through my work at My Menopause Journey.
Midlife Protein is my “simple tool” corner of the internet — created for women who are tired of guessing and just want a clear answer to:
How much protein do I actually need now that my body has changed?
My Midlife Wake-Up Call
When my hormones started shifting, everything I used to do “for health” stopped working.
I was eating “pretty healthy,” walking, staying busy… but I still:
- carried more weight around my middle
- woke up tired
- craved sugar and snacks
- felt puffy and inflamed
I thought I needed more willpower.
What I actually needed was better fuel for my midlife metabolism — especially protein.
Slowly, through trying things on myself and working with other midlife women, I realized that most of us are simply under-eating protein for where we are in life.
Why I Created the Midlife Protein Calculator
Most calculators online are designed for:
- young men building muscle
- athletes
- generic “adults”
Not for a 45-, 52-, or 61-year-old woman in perimenopause or menopause whose hormones, stress response, and metabolism work very differently.
So I created a protein calculator for women over 40 that takes into account:
- age
- weight
- activity level
- goals (weight release, energy, strength)
- where you are in the menopause transition
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is to give you a realistic, hormone-friendly daily protein target that helps with:
- fewer cravings
- steadier energy
- better blood sugar balance
- easier weight management
- stronger muscles and bones
- a calmer, more responsive midlife metabolism
My Approach: Gentle, Practical, Midlife-Focused
I’m not a medical doctor and I don’t pretend to be.
I’m a woman in midlife, a certified nutrition coach, and a fasting therapist who:
- tests things on herself first
- studies how food, fasting, and stress affect women 40+
- looks at the whole picture — hormones, sleep, gut, stress, protein, and carbs
- translates all that into simple, doable steps
Everything I share here is based on my own experience, my training, and years of listening to thousands of women talk about their menopause symptoms, weight struggles, and energy crashes.
